The Four Occupations is a board game designed and developed all by myself. This is a 3-player, area control game. In total, the game has 12 turns and is equally divided into 3 terms. After all 12 turns are finished, the player who has the most reputation points is the winner.
The story takes place in ancient Chinese society. You and 2 other players are ministers in a country that has 4 cities (Chang'an, Chengdu, Luoyang and Yangzhou). A year from now, the emperor of this country is going to appoint one of you as the prime minister. Within 12 months, you want to build reputation and beat your competitors by uniting the four occupations (officials, farmers, craftsmen and merchants) and by controlling as many cities as possible.
Samsara is a project inspired by the serious issue of bullying. The goal of this project is to design and develop and expressive artistic game to help both kids being bullied and who are bullies by making them take a fresh look at themselves and relationships with others in their lives. We are making neither an educational game nor a "feel good" game. We focus on creating a meaningful game from which players can feel what we encourage them to do in real life and get influenced indirectly.
Chopsticks & Push-Ups is a game for MaKey MaKey created in only 20 hours by a team of 5. In this game, one player needs to do push-ups to make the heart beat stronger and knock off the bacteria and another player needs to pick the bacteria with a click of his mouse when they are knocked off.
My role in the team: Producer and Designer.
In Pittsburgh Global Game Jam 2013, this game received the Google Award.
Weight of Soul is a virtual world where the guest will use PS Move wand to tell a story. The souls of those who pass on, will stand outside the gates of Heaven. They will stand for the trial of the feather. Those whose sins weigh less will be granted salvation and those who fail will be condemned to hell for all eternity. One day, there's a soul shows an uncharacteristic exact balance in the scales, so the angel enters the inner self of the soul, go through certain events of his life to find reasons for judgment.
Kill Ben Fish is a first-person, 3D chasing game for Kinect created in two weeks by a team of 4. The story is about a shark chasing after an annoying fish. The player will use his hands as the jaws of the shark to control the moving and chomping.
My role in the team: Producer, Designer and Programmer.
iLamp is a Music Visualizer application developed by 3 people using MATLAB and Adobe Flash Builder. When users listen to music, there will be a digital lamp flashing according to the rhythm of the music.
My role in the team: MATLAB Programmer. I used MATLAB to extract beats from music and encapsulate the data in XML files, in support of others’ development.
Last Stop on the H Line is a first-person, 3D exploratory world for PS Move created in two weeks by a team of 5. A lone firefighter must traverse a subway wreck to rescue a trapped civilian and then get out before the tunnel collapses.
My role in the team: Sound Designer and Audio Programmer.
On December 5th 2012, this world was performed in front of 500 audience in annual BVW Show (14/88) and it got CMU homepage Coverage.
This is a web-based, user driven and immersive transmedia experience created in two weeks by a team of 4. Users can use their mouse to go through different versions of Cinderella's story and the story behind the pumpkin.
